This week I was talking to my good friend Emily Christensen (via facetime-I am so thankful for this technology), who lives in Hong Kong and she was (respectfully) complaining about my lack of blogging (She'll understand someday when she has two kids to attend to ALL day long). So in an effort to prove her wrong that I can and will catch up I am going to do one more LONG blog post to catch myself up to February and then I can do current posts as they happen and make Emily (and probably others) a happy blog reader!
Saturday, January 12th
When we brought Isaiah home in 2010 we made handprint ornaments to honor his first Christmas with us. We wanted to do the same with Esther, but I had a little bit of trouble finding the same kit so by the time we had the kit we were in the hustle and bustle of Christmas, then the kids got sick, and well it took us until the middle of January to actually get the project done. But we did it, and they turned out cute. It will be fun to hang Isaiah's and Esther's handprints on the tree next year.
While Travis and I were busy helping make Esther's handprints Isaiah entertained us by reading a favorite Cars book to us.
All the handprint making was tough work...I love this picture because she never sleeps spread out...she normally loves to be snuggled up tight when she is sleeping.
Sunday, January 13th
Emily sent two Kinder Surprises (a special chocolate with a toy inside that aren't sold in the US) back with her sister Ruthie for Isaiah and Esther (although Isaiah ate both). He really liked the chocolate, but thought he was also supposed to eat the toy (it was a little otter).
This is the toy otter that he is sniffing and wanting to lick.
Esther in her church dress
(Thanks Sargent family for letting us borrow this adorable dress...she got to wear it one time!)

Isaiah loves being outside. Sometimes he just needs a little time in the corner of our small backyard to improve his mood. He has learned that when Sophie goes outside he can go too, so sometimes he offers to take her out...sweet boy!
I made homemade playdough again! Nonna and Pops gave Isaiah new playdough tools in his Christmas bag and he has been wanting to try them out so today seemed like a good day.
Emily (a friend from church and who lives in the homes right behind ours) came over after school today to play with the kids. She had a good time playing with the playdough too.
Making handprints...one of Isaiah's favorite things to do.
She made a snake for Isaiah.
She also made him a pie.
Emily really wanted Isaiah to look at the finished pie, but he had moved on from playdough and wasn't interested. However, after she left he enjoyed it and for many days later he talked about Emily visiting and making him a pie...so he obviously loved it.
Playing with his Christmas present from Grandma and Grandpa-Trains!
Wednesday, January 16th
We visited Grammy and Grandad's house today. I packed the playdough because I thought Isaiah would like making things with Grandad, but he ended up doing playdough with Grammy today. They made beds and a car.
Isaiah loves a little clock that Grammy has on an end table. He always changes the time when he visits so she has given up on setting the clock and now Isaiah just plays with it.
Grandad got to talk to Esther during our visit.
Grammy came home with me so she could fix my laundry bag button that had fallen off earlier in the week and while she and I were upstairs Isaiah decided it was time to get out his craft box. I had to laugh when I headed downstairs and this is what I saw... stickers everywhere!
Thursday, January 17th
We are really working hard at getting Isaiah to accept more foods. Yes, I know Target fast food is not the healthiest place, but I was low and needing a little sugar and I thought he might like an Icee. He liked it ok, but didn't drink much and even though I needed sugar this was way sweeter than I remember so I didn't really like it either.
We met Aunt Elise and Greyson at Winco. The reason we went to Winco was because I had a spend $50 save $10 coupon. The crazy thing was I had just gone to Winco within the last week and the same day I went was the day the coupon arrived in the mail, but I couldn't pass up such a good deal.
Also, Isaiah is wearing his new Orange Tennis Shoes!
Saturday, January 19th
At almost exactly 2 months old we finally had Esther take one short crib nap in her bedroom.
This evening we went to Travis' Uncle Vern's 80th birthday party. Grandma and Grandpa had bought Esther and Kiara matching dresses as a Christmas present so Kayla and I planned to have the girls wear them and match.
Today was also the first time we got REALLY good smile pictures! Of course the smiles were all after we got home from the birthday party and had taken the cousin pictures...oh well.
Happy 2 Months old, Esther! I LOVE these pj's (I bought them just after we found out she was a girl and right before she came home).
Monday, January 21st
It's Martin Luther King Day, but Travis had to work, so we entertained ourselves in a variety of fun ways around the house today.
Thanks Aunt Jolene and Uncle Lance for this adorable owl outfit.
Isaiah is really starting to like Esther more and more each day. He had fun playing with all of her toys this morning. Esther was happily entertained by her big brother's noise and movements.
I was trying to get a smile from Isaiah...fail!
While Esther took one of her many naps Isaiah and I made Blueberry Muffins!
Isaiah also took a Glow Stick bath (thank you Pinterest for the idea). He had a blast!
Tummy time for Esther
Isaiah ate 2 blueberry muffins at lunch time.
Esther went to the doctor this evening for her 2 month appointment. It went well. She survived her first round of shots.
Wednesday, January 23rd
His favorite was when he drew a sun card and got to move the sun tile. It made him crack up!
Esther woke up from a nap at the end of our game playing, but she happily laid in my lap while we finished.
Thursday, January 24th
I went to Dundee Elementary and visited my teacher friends. We hung out in Karen's Kindergarten classroom so Isaiah had lots of toys to play with while I visited and Esther got to be held.
I guess school wore Esther out...she was a sleepy baby later that evening. I love how she sleeps...so precious!
Friday, January 25th
Esther LOVES to sleep. She is getting better about sleeping other places, but she still loves a good nap in your arms.
Saturday, January 26th
Emily Christensen also always requests more videos...but babies don't do a whole lot of video worthy things so here is a silly kicking around clip.
Sunday, January 27th
A lady that Travis works with, Denise, made this adorable hat for Esther. It is finally a good fit so she wore it to church this morning. I love the hat and think I might try and convince Denise to make Esther and I matching mother/daughter hats...that would be so fun!
Esther's church dress (another borrow from the Sargent family-thanks)
Isaiah ASKED (this is huge) for bacon (a new food we had recently introduced to him). He still only took several bites, but he asked for and ate bacon.
Thanks Mitchell family for letting us borrow this fun cherry outfit. It was fun to have Esther 'sit' and do a little photo shoot. Her smiles are still hard to catch on the camera.
Tummy time video...
Big brother reading "How Much Does God Love You" to his little sister...
Isaiah LOVES Chris Tomlin music. He recently has really been interested in the Hello Love CD. So he recently learned how to spell...and now writes the word LOVE. He was so proud! I also think this might be his first writing of a word that isn't a name (like mommy, daddy, Isaiah, etc).
Isaiah also requested rice today...and happily ate it. Yea for more and more foods that he is willing to eat.
Amy Macy brought over this wonderful quilt for Miss Esther. Thanks, we have gotten lots of play time on it already!
When we took Esther to her 2 month appointment our pediatrician thought she heard/felt something with Esther's left hip. She referred us to have an ultrasound done because she was concerned Esther might have a dislocatable hip (side note...I had this as a baby, that would be random if Esther also has it). Today was her ultrasound and she did awesome. She slept through most of it (it helped that they gave us heated blankets to keep her warm and comfy while we waited) and wasn't bothered by the doctors moving her hips.
Wednesday, January 30th
Only a 6th grader, not a mom, would suggest such a messy activity... It wasn't really that messy and Isaiah thought it was tons of fun to move his hands through.
Esther was napping during fizzy paint, but Emily made sure she still got an Esther snuggle before she had to head home.
Emily is so good with Isaiah. She played kitchen with him too. They took all his food and stashed it everywhere in the kitchen. He thought it was hilarious!
After dinner Esther was playing on her play mat and before long we realized she had gotten so tired she just fell asleep.
To make Pops happy we put a blanket over her while she napped under the play mat.
We got word from Esther's pediatrician today that her hips are fine... PRAISE THE LORD! So we celebrated by taking her to Baskin Robbins. Actually we really wanted to take advantage of the special going on right now that is buy one sundae get one sundae for free (only on Wednesdays). Isaiah wanted green ice cream (mint chocolate chip) we let him try it and he liked it...so that's what we ordered for him. Travis and I both enjoy some Love Potion 31 ice cream... ah I love February ice cream!
Nonna and Pops went to ice cream with us and then came back to hang out at our house for a little while before bedtime. Isaiah showed off his writing skills by writing LOVE. As soon as he wrote it he asked me to take his picture...I guess I was a little over the top proud of him the first time and he thought I should still be over the top proud of him (and I am).
Isaiah has been having fun interacting more and more with Esther. Today they were both on the floor and he was busy reading her books while she did her tummy time.
Isaiah really likes reading Construction Countdown to Esther (this is his book of choice for some reason-sorry Esther it's quite a BOY book) but since she doesn't voice an opinion yet so he gets to do what he wants (within reason).
This afternoon Aunt Kayla and Kiara came over for lunch and a visit.
And I am officially caught up through January! I hope Emily is feeling fulfilled with this LONG blog post. I am feeling very accomplished to document all our family happenings. I love my family of 4!
