Thursday, June 21 VBS- Day 4 and Settlers Park

In the skit today Flash got a letter in the mail.  He was so excited, but hadn't opened it yet.  When Lance told him to open the letter he found out that he didn't get accepted into the Sky Angels Academy.  Surprisingly he wasn't disappointed, but instead he taught the kids the Day 4 message:  No Matter What Happens...Trust God!

Isaiah made a new friend this week!  She is so sweet and is always trying to help Isaiah "fit in" our preschool class.  She always asks him if he wants to play with her.   He seems to like doing what she suggests!

Isaiah isn't always into doing the crafts, but with a little help from Jolene he made a cool foam cross that says LOVE GOD- I think he was more interested in this craft due to the letters!  It was interesting to see the kids (all older than him) having troubles with placing their letters the correct direction.  He had no problem with that skill he just needs to keep working on his social skills.  Jolene keeps reminding me he is little.  I sure do love my LITTLE boy!

Today the Bible story was about Jesus coming back to life after dying on the cross.  Jolene taught that Jesus is the LIGHT of the world.  Each kid got a glow stick to show Jesus' light to others!

This Little Light of Mine video.

Snack time is a highlight of the day because they get to eat a cookie!

The kids (minus Isaiah) have on their watch for God glasses.  They got to go outside and look for things that God created.  Then they got to play chalk outside for the last several minutes of our class time on Thursday.

After VBS we had lunch, Isaiah took a nap, and then we headed out to Settlers Park.  We left around 5pm...check out the temperature...100!

We had a Subway dinner picnic and then we went to explore this amazing park!

One of the sections of the park was a music section.  We loved it!  Since I have been brainstorming about how to make a small music section in our backyard I took pictures of some of the different things included in this park that might work on a smaller scale in our yard.  Now we just need a little time at home to start this fun project.

There were lots of slides to explore at this park.  I think he went down most of them too!  Isaiah is getting really good at being confident at all the different parks we are exploring here.  He sure does love a good park.  I am sure our summer will be filled with MANY more!

Travis even convinced Isaiah to climb up the spiral stair case to go down another fun slide.  He is always a little nervous but LOVES it once he gets where he needs to be to enjoy the slide.  Then he just does the skill again and again to get even more confidence.

Another section of the park had WATER.  Remember it is 100 degrees so playing in water sounded so good!  After Isaiah got pretty hot and sweaty eating dinner and going on LOTS of slides it was time to show him the water part of the park.  We weren't sure if he would be interested since he hasn't liked spraying water/fountain parks before (but last summer).  Well since it was so hot we just showed him how to enjoy them and he quickly got SOAKED!

Isaiah was having so much fun at the park that we knew getting him to leave the park might not be easy...so what better solution for parents to suggest than how about we go get some ice cream.  He was happy with that option!

I took Isaiah and Trav's picture so then Travis wanted to take mine...but instead of one he took 10 pictures really fast...so he is my progression of eating ice cream!

Yum, ice cream on a hot day is wonderful!
