Friday, June 22 VBS- Day 5 and Date Night

By Friday morning Isaiah was extremely tired so I let him sleep in and wake up on his own...it was between 8:30 and 8:45am.  Once he was up we quickly rushed and were only about 15 minutes late to VBS.

On the last day of VBS the message was No Matter Where You Are...Trust God!
During the week the kids were being challenged to bring in money for kids in Mali (Operation Kid-to-Kid).  Kids in Mali can get sick (malaria) from mosquitoes so all the money collected will be used to provide mosquito nets to help keep the kids safe and healthy.

On Friday a little boy (I think about 7) told his crew leader that he had brought money that he had been saving for years, but he wanted to give it because he felt like it was time. (He didn't know how much he had collected)

There was so many coins to count several special helpers were involved in counting his donation.

After counting all the coins that this little boy brought in it totaled 50 dollars!  Each next costs 6 dollars so his money alone could buy 8 nets.  All the VBS kids brought in a total around 230 dollars, which means we could buy approximately 38 nets.

On Friday the preschool class got to help take pictures for the spotlight video during closing.  There were several women working with the class having the kids pose in specific places to match the motions for the song.  Isaiah was not interested in cooperating and being in any of the photos, but the other kids did a great job.  This specific pose was when the kids were told to pray...so cute!

Isaiah's new friend asked him if he wanted to play with her.  They (she) decided to play at the sea life table.  Isaiah happily complied to her request.  She was convinced she could hear the ocean from the sea shells.  They had fun playing with all the different animals together.

Isaiah found time to play play dough too.  He made a few shapes -hearts, star, letter x.  He also requested I make him a lot of balls so he could play round-flat!

He is loving Aunt Jolene and occasionally just goes over during play times to get a snuggle.

Isaiah and I were listening to Jolene begin the story.

On Friday they pretended they were on a boat and were throwing their nets over to go fishing.  However, they were not having any luck...no fish in the nets.  They tried the right side, the left side, the front, and the back.

Then Jesus said throw your nets again...and this time they caught lots of fish!

They rowed back to shore and had a wonderful "breakfast" with Jesus.  The kids "breakfast" contained cracker (bread) and gold fish crackers and candy fish (fish).  Yum, the snacks at VBS are awesome!

After a snack they got to work on their activity page.  Today they got to put fish stickers on the page in the empty net.  Isaiah loves stickers!

The "breakfast" snack during story time was a bonus snack because they still got to have a cookie snack like the big kids.

Our final closing!  Flash made his last appearance to sing with the kids!

My handsome Flash!

Isaiah's new friend was very interested in getting him to follow the rules.  She kept helping him sit and stand at the right times during closing.

Somehow I guess Isaiah decided she was working at being so loving to him that he gave her a hug!

As the kids were leaving the opening and closing music leader sang one final song.  This was Isaiah's favorite time to go up on stage and dance his heart out.  There normally weren't too many big kids around to get in his way.

In the evening on Friday Jolene and Lance watched Isaiah so Travis and I could go on a date (for our 7th anniversary-just a few days early).  We kept our tradition and went to the Melting Pot.  It was a nice quiet evening there and we enjoyed our delicious food!

While we were out having fun on our date Isaiah was enjoying being with Uncle Lance and Aunt Jolene.  He got to watch Shapes, eat dinner, play i-pad, go to the park, and eat ice cream while we were gone!

Thanks for the night out Jolene and Lance!  We had a wonderful evening and we are glad you had a good time with Isaiah.
