Friday Adventures in Seoul

By Daddio

Sorry for not updating the blog yesterday, we spent a lot of the day out and about and the little guy was having a few more difficult moments, so when we were back in the hotel room we were taking care of our little guy. Then we ended up all going to sleep around 9:30 PM last night. However we did have a good morning learning about some of the history of Seoul and some Korea culture by our city tour guide Chun. She took us to a palace close to the hotel, and to a traditional Korean BBQ for lunch. I enjoyed lunch, but it was also a bit different than any other meal we have had so far. Anyway here's the pictures from yesterday. We are coming home in less than 48 hours. All of us are looking forward to coming home. We've had a good time here, but are ready to get back to a sense of normalcy, less city, food we can cook for ourselves and start the adjustment again back home with Isaiah.

Kings throne room in the palace
This picture is for Kalina to show her class. There were a ton of children on field trips while we were in the palace.
The queens garden
This is where the kings held their parties
Our tour guide wanted us to do the traditional Korean photo pose. In the United States we say 'cheese', in Korea they say 'Kim-Chi' and hold up the peace sign to get the children to smile.
This is where one of Korea's last Queen's were killed by the Japanese during an invasion of Korea.
An artist painting the previous picture. This was a stunning painting and if it would have been done I would have bought it. Absolutely beautiful.
According to the Chinese calendar each person has a birth animal. Here is the Rat for the year that Isaiah was born. He also shares this with his cousin Campbell.
Mommy's birth year is the Dog
Daddio's birth year is the Rooster

Seoul has re-developed a stream in the downtown corridor. This is similar to the San Antonio river walk, however it is in it's initial development. It was a pretty walk along the river in downtown Seoul.

Thanks for all the updates and pictures! It's so fun to see what you've been up to. I'm glad that you've had a few days to see some sights and get a sense of Korean culture. I'm sure you'll have lots of great memories to share with Isaiah as he gets older.
