We were supposed to take family pictures today, but poor Pops (our photographer) had a cold. So we went searching for other fun things to do as a family. Earlier in the week we had gotten a flier for Bauman Pumpkin Patch in our newspaper and September 29th was their opening day. In hopes that there wouldn't be a huge crowd yet (not officially October) we ventured to Gervais, Oregon!
When we pulled into the parking lot Isaiah noticed the tractor doing the hayride. He was ready to ride and have fun!
Since we had never been here before when we first arrived we toured the grounds before paying for tickets(still trying to decide how many total tickets we would need). While we were exploring we found a few free sections that we let Isaiah check out.
This was the Gopher Hole...a few tube slides!
We also explored the animal zone!
Next we went to the playground and tire pyramid section- also free!
On our way to the playground and tire pyramid we walked past Gem Mining, which cost 5 to 8 tickets, so we weren't interested, but Isaiah thought it was fun to watch the water flow.
At the playground...
At the tire pyramid...
The view from the tire pyramid allowed you watch the hayride...which Isaiah REALLY wanted to do!
In the playground section there was an old tractor that you could climb on and pretend to drive. Isaiah made sure to check out the large tires!
While Isaiah and I were playing on the tire pyramid Daddy went to buy us tickets. He paid 20 dollars for 25 tickets. Isaiah wasn't too interested in posing with our expensive tickets, instead he just wanted to get on the hayride.
The hayride cost 2 tickets a person. We thought we would have to pay for Isaiah too...so 6 tickets per ride, but the nice lady collecting the tickets said he didn't need to pay. Umm, that was one of the reasons we bought the 25 tickets deal.
Either way Isaiah LOVED the hayride! He would have ridden ALL DAY if we would have allowed it!
After one hayride we went and did the swings, which cost us 3 tickets. Daddy was good at giving Isaiah the big pushes he liked.
This was my favorite picture on Isaiah on the swings! He even has hay in his Crocs.
Around this time we were figuring Isaiah probably should be taken to go potty. (Isaiah is now able to mostly tell us when he needs to go potty, but this was still early on and we really didn't want to have an accident out and about.) So to the port-a-potties it was-and Travis was the lucky parent who got to initiate him in using these beauties!
Let's just say after Isaiah did his business Travis quickly scooped him up and got him out of there so he wouldn't touch anything else. Ah, public bathrooms and potty-training do provide for some great stories!
A lady who was helping her older child in the next potty over did look at me funny when I had my camera out. But once I told her it was his first port-a-potty experience so I had to photograph it, she agreed!
After our potty break we headed over to the Nut House, which should have cost us 1 ticket, but the girl collecting tickets/monitoring the area just told us to let him go in for free. We were now concerned how we were even going to attempt to spend 25 tickets. Ha! Isaiah had a blast crawling around in the nuts!
Since we had tickets we let Isaiah try the Giant Slide, which cost us 1 ticket. Daddy took him to the top of the giant slide and I waited at the bottom. I had no idea when he would be coming down as I couldn't see the top. So the funny thing was, I was getting my camera ready and took this one..
...and then out came Isaiah! He didn't disappoint he LOVED the slide! He wanted to go again, but Travis and I decided it was too much work for Daddy to help Isaiah safely get to the top and then have Daddy fight getting back down the crowded stair case so we moved to another slide area.
The new slide area was called Pumpkin Hill and for some reason this smaller slide cost 3 tickets a turn. Oh well, we had a gazillion tickets to spend so we let Isaiah do it several times. The first time Daddy took him up to the top and showed him what he needed to do and then the rest of the times he was a big boy and mastered the slide by himself (and with a little help from the worker at the top).
Next, Travis volunteered me to ride with Isaiah on the Bug Train. This cost us 6 total tickets.
Wow, was that a ride!
Somehow I have missed our other hayrides (I am pretty sure we made at least three trips)!
We spent our last 3 tickets on the swings. Travis had me push Isaiah this time, but I don't think I could get as good of pushes as Daddy. Isaiah still had fun.
Finally, we bought apple cider doughnuts!
We had a lot of fun! Isaiah was super worn out and took a car nap on our drive home.
